We are on a mission to build a place where people can relax, let go of the pressures of their day and find new beauty inside and out.
Our services are gender-free, provided in a calm, inclusive, and safe environment. We work by appointment only (no walk-ins) and can accommodate most ages and differences. When you are at Zealous, you are our focus. More than a salon, we are a haven.
Our Story
As a child, Sara Okamuro dreamed of owning a storefront business in downtown. She loved “coming to town” and vividly remembered shopping at Spainhours with her mom and Nana (she loved the hats most!).
In 2018, her childhood dream became a reality when she purchased Totally Tan in historic downtown Statesville. The location was perfectly situated near the end of the revitalized West Broad Street. The site was quiet, intimate, and perfect for a metamorphosis.
With that, she started her biggest project yet: transforming the outdated tanning salon into a soothing haven for all who enter.
Slowly, she phased out UV tanning, and added esthetics, hair services, and reflexology. Once major renovations were complete, she was able to open the brand-new Zealous hair space. It boasts three chairs and all new equipment. Not a surface in the space went untouched.
Today, Zealous Beauty Bar serves its guests with esthetic, nail, and hair services. A coffee bar and refreshment center has been added, and you will know you are in a safe, relaxing space when you enter and smell the customized aromatherapy wafting throughout the space.
Zealous has come a long way since its birth in 2018, but we aren’t finished yet. More is still to come and new services are being added to the menu in Fall of 2022.
